Let’s unpack (at) Lande Home

Our little nook of the world is a studio cabin that offers a central bedroom and living room with adjoining kitchen and dining area, walk-in-robe and bathroom. The views are crisper than a chilled Savvy B on a summers day, although we prefer our stays here in the cooler seasons of the year when we can sit by the fire. Let’s unpack a little more about what you get with a Lande Home stay.

*Minimum 3 night stays

Country

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. Wooditup (Margaret River) is the heart of Wadandi Boodja (country), a meeting place between land and sea, connecting us all with Wadandi Boodja.

Welcome Basket

We hope you enjoy your welcome basket of local wine, and eggs from the property. If you would like any more eggs during your stay, feel free to wander to our family chook pen which is almost in disrepair (it's on the list) which is to the right of the cabin next to the wood pile.

Water Supply

The entire cabin’s water source is from our rain-water tanks and fresh creek which flows from about June onwards. Water is a finite resource for us, so please be conscious when you are using it. We all drink it, there is nothing like fresh water!! However if you would like to filter your water there are some filter bottles provided.

The grey water from showers and sinks is set up to leech out into the fruit orchard as the main water supply. So all the products you will find in the cabin are free of rank chemicals.

Composting Toilet

There is a composting toilet complete with inbuilt fan (which makes it completely odour free). You don't need to do anything during your stay except use sawdust on each 'deposit' into the toilet. Toilet matter, Toilet paper and sawdust are the only things that belong in there. That's it! Close the lid. If this freaks you out, you will get used to it and as ALL THINGS SAVING THE PLANET SHOULD BE, this is vital.

Wood & Fires

The cabin will be stocked with wood for your weekend. We are working on a huge pile for next to the Olive Tree on arrival, however if you need more sticks - go hunting - if you need more wood - hit up the wood pile next to the chook pen. Enjoy the fire pit and the fire place!!

Please be strict with fire bans and seasonal rules. During Winter months having the fire pit and fire-place roaring is fine, but if you are travelling in warmer months please check with local council if you are allowed to have fire.  Fires are NOT permitted between 16 December to 11 April.

Pup on Site

First and foremost, this has been our family property for over 40 years. 4 generations have nurtured this property, and so it comes complete with our family pup,  Harli , who may visit you from time to time. He is a border collie, and the sweetest nature in the world. We just can’t stop him from roaming his territory. He might chill on your deck, but by no means do you need to let him in with his incessant door scratches, you do you - it’s your home.

Unfortunately, we can’t accept your pups as much as we’d love to. Our surrounding forest is National Park and the council baits it for foxes, so it’s just too risky.

Wabi Sabi Style

The cabin was mostly built by me and my dad, so its charm is absolutely in its imperfections. It’s a fusion of luxurious and rustic but also nuanced with a creaky floorboard, some learning curves for my first build, and an ever-evolving offering as we bring brilliant things to life in the cabin.
